Bernard Mpagazihe

Welcome to my web page. My name is Bernard          Mpagazihe. I     am originally from Africa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I moved to the USA in 2000 fleeing a civil war that was going on in my country.

For the last 10 years, I have been working with students whose English is not their primary home language. Just like my students, I acquired English at a secondary level of my education and therefore pride in being an inspiration, with a better awareness of all the struggles that one encounters when learning a new language, to young boys and girls in their effort to making English their education tools.
I earned a Master's degree in Education in my home country with a focus in teaching English to non-English speakers. Upon arrival in the USA, I upgraded my education credentials and obtained my first K-12 teaching license in 2002 as an EL teacher.

It is thus my privilege to have the opportunity to be a part of the Rochester EL teachers’ team whose mission is to “collaborate and advocate to inspire, challenge, and empower English learners as they develop their social and academic English while maintaining their multicultural identities”.
I can be reached at the school contact number 507 328 3300 or by email at
