Franklin Elementary School

Stephanie Wittmer

Welcome To Kindergarten!

The growth we will see in your child in his or her Kindergarten year is mind-boggling and is one of the reasons I think teaching Kindergarten is the most rewarding job I could have.

Your child and his or her peers arrive the first day fumbling and struggling to sit in rows, understand what "line up" means, and manage a lunch tray in the cafeteria. We barely getting through breakfast and lunch before it's time to pack up and go home on our first few days!

After only a few weeks they are running the show: managing their many materials; independently moving from job to job in our room; taking ownership of their room, their feelings, and their learning; and caring for their community of friends in our class.

By the end of the year they will have become readers, mathematicians, musicians, artists, scientists, and responsible members of the multiple communities of which they are a part.

I am excited to walk through this journey with each of them and with you.

I am excited to share your child's daily and weekly work, play, and adventures with you through an app called Seesaw. It can be used on any of your devices.
I will get you all signed up at Meet the Teacher.
I think you will love getting updates (photos, videos, work samples) of your child throughout the days and weeks.

In addition to Seesaw we can communicate via email or phone. Please note that to eliminate disruptions to our learning you will call Franklin's main office and they will put you through to my voicemail. I will return voicemail messages after the school day.
